FinCockpit and FinCockpit Ingest — last updated 7 September 2026
Who this covers
FinCockpit is private, single-user software written and run by Lachlan Addison for his own financial records. It is not offered to anyone else, and it has no users other than its author. This policy exists because Google requires one for applications that use its APIs.
What the application accesses
FinCockpit Ingest requests one Google scope:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly. It uses that access
to read messages carrying a single self-applied Gmail label and to download the
bank statements attached to them. It cannot send, modify, or delete anything in
the mailbox.
What happens to that data
- Statements are downloaded to a private server controlled by the author and parsed into that server's own database.
- Nothing is transmitted to any third party, and nothing is shared, sold, published, or used for advertising, analytics, profiling or model training.
- The application has no other users, no accounts, and no public interface — it is reachable only over a private network.
- Notifications summarising what was collected are sent to the author's own messaging account. The documents themselves are never sent.
Retention and deletion
Data is retained on the author's server for as long as it is useful for his own financial records, and can be deleted by him at any time. Google access can be revoked at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, which immediately ends the application's ability to read anything.
Limited use
The application's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
